Supreme Class - Y1

Supreme Class is a Year 1 class and the teachers are Mrs Paine and Mrs Maskey.

Welcome to Supreme Class!

Mrs Paine
Autumn 2
What a wonderful term we have had Supreme class! You have all been absolute superstars and have made me and Mrs Paine so proud with all the hard work you have put into your learning. Here is a little snapshot of some of your amazing learning over the last half term.
In English, we found a suitcase that had lots of interesting items in it. We discovered that the suitcase belonged to Paddington bear. We had lots of fun learning all about Paddington's life and we really enjoyed creating our own marmalade sandwiches (I think we enjoyed marmalade just as much as Paddington). After tasting our delicious sandwiches we then created a set of instructions so that other children in school can make them too! After that, we then went onto look at the differences between London and Peru. We couldn't believe how busy and loud London is compare to peaceful and calm Peru!
In Maths, we have been learning all about place value, addition and subtraction. We have been really enjoying number blocks every morning which links to our super 6 maths lesson where we have been learning all about number bonds to 10 and making numbers to 10. We have also learnt about 2D and 3D shapes. We created 3D shapes with playdough and learnt all about their properties.
Autumn 1 2024

Well done Supreme class for a wonderful start to year 1! You have amazed me and Mrs Maskey with your fantastic effort and resilience so far and we can't wait for all the exciting learning to come.

Our learning this half term is around, 'Who were the greatest explorers?' We have learnt about Captain James Cook, Amelia Earhart and Neil Armstrong and the children particularly enjoyed our trip to space on a rocket.

In English, we wrote our own version of, 'We're going on a bear hunt,' where the children chose their own animal to go on a journey with. We created new stories such as, we're going on a penguin hunt and we're going on a polar bear hunt and the children managed to include some amazing adjectives to describe their animals.

We have now moved onto the story, 'A man on the moon' where we met a character called Bob who sent us a postcard. We have been learning about the features of a postcard and we can't wait to send him our reply. Then an alien visited school in a spaceship and left us some moon cake to try that was covered in slime. We couldn't believe our eyes!

In Maths, we have been learning all about place value, addition and subtraction. Supreme class have been working hard to remember to form our numbers correctly and to use resources to help us with our working out.
